BlastX works by physically dismantling the extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) matrix, which is the main component of biofilm. By destroying the EPS matrix, BlastX also prevents the growth of further biofilm within the gel.
BlastX™ Supersedes Current Therapy By Reducing Bacteria 7-8 Log
In in vitro studies, BlastX was compared to SilvaSorb® Wound Gel and Microcyn® Wound Gel. 24 hours after application, measurements were taken for two different kinds of bacteria (S. aureus and P. aeruginosa). Compared to the other two wound gels, BlastX significantly reduced the number of bacteria present by 7 to 8 log.24
BlastX™ Yields Seven-log Reduction of Bacteria
After 24 hours of in vitro growth, two species of bacterial biofilm were treated with BlastX, PuraPlyTM, gauze, or maintained as a control. The application of BlastX reduced the presence P. aeruginosa nearly seven-log.11
