Chief Executive Officer
Judith Mitchell joined Next Science in August 2017. Most recently Ms. Mitchell was President, DePuy Synthes Asia Pacific, the Orthopaedics Division of J&J. Prior to that Ms. Mitchell was the President of Asia Pacific for Synthes GmbH, the world leaders in Orthopaedic trauma care. Before joining Synthes in 2004, Ms. Mitchell held a variety of positions at Cochlear Limited in Product Development, Global Marketing and Education. Ms. Mitchell started her med tech career at GE Medical Systems where over a 14-year career she held positions in sales, marketing and management.
Dr. Matthew Myntti
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Matt Myntti is the founder of Next Science and has overall responsibility for all research and development at the company. He leads product ideation, research and development of all Next Science technologies. Dr. Myntti received his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Dayton and has in excess of 25 granted US patents. Previously at Medtronic Surgical Technologies, he led the biomaterials group which developed novel ENT and neurologic products.
Chief Operating Officer
Jon Swanson joined Next Science in June 2018 and has responsibility for the operations, quality and regulatory teams at Next Science. Most recently, Mr. Swanson was a leader in the Advanced Operations Group at McKinsey & Co., where he focused on transforming operations, product development and quality performance at clients in the pharmaceutical and medical products industries. Before joining McKinsey in 2011, Mr. Swanson held a variety of positions at Medtronic in manufacturing, product development and operations excellence. Mr. Swanson started his career in the US Navy in operations and nuclear engineering. Mr. Swanson holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the US Naval Academy.
Chief Financial Officer
Jacqueline Butler qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales (ICAEW) while working at Arthur Andersen in London. Jacqueline worked in the UK and Europe in various financial roles before coming to Australia in 2005. She joined Azure Group Pty Ltd., a Chartered Accounting firm in Sydney where she acted as CFO for various clients as well as headed up the Accounting and Financial Reporting Divisions as Associate Director. Following this she joined Avira Energy Limited as CFO and Company Secretary, helping to list it on the ASX in 2013.
Executive Director, Americas
Jim Mozley is responsible for overseeing a diverse team of talented and creative scientists and engineers to drive research and development of a wide range of innovative technologies for Next Science and its partners. Mr. Mozley received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and has over 40 years of management experience with 35 of those years leading successful ventures as CEO.
Executive VP, Global
Byron Darroch is an accomplished executive who focuses on successfully steering young organizations through dynamic change and accelerated growth. As a life long learner, creator and implementor of innovative business models and strategies, Byron is dedicated to disrupting old industry paradigms. Previously, as General Manager and Head of Business Development at Atomo Diagnostics, a fast-growing diagnostics company supported by the Gates Foundation, Byron helped bring large-scale HIV self-testing to the global market. Byron is leading the Partnerships team for Next Science.
Previously as a Senior Engineering Manager at Medtronic, Dan was involved in managing new company acquisitions, development and executing subsequent business integration strategies, assuring medical device production quality. Mr. Canon has been leading complex projects in military, commercial, defense and medical operational environments for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland.
VP, Sales and Marketing
As VP of Sales and Marketing for Next Science, Don is responsible for coordinating and supporting all sales and market development initiatives in wound care. Mr. Ayers brings over 25 years of healthcare experience to Next Science with a focus on the introduction and commercialization of advanced and innovated products into the marketplace. Previously he has held sales and national accounts director positions with fast-paced growth companies such as MiMedx, Shire, Advanced BioHealing, and Smith & Nephew.
VP, Quality Assurance
Susan Johnson is responsible for development and growth of the quality management system at Next Science. Susan brings to Next Science over 20 years of quality engineering experience and has held several positions of increasing responsibility in the medical device industry. Prior to joining Next Science, Susan spent 13 years at Medtronic working in various engineering and managerial roles, most recently as supplier quality manager of a global supply base. Susan received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from Hofstra University.
